As a total beginner leaning Italian the online course I recently completed was an excellent starter. Paul is a total professional and ensured everyone on the course could practice conversation to develop their confidence in learning Italian.
I am looking forward to using what I have learnt when I next visit Italy and would like to continue learning and do another course later in the year.
I would highly recommend the online course to others wanting to start learning Italian

I've just finished a short four week online holiday Italian course and I enjoyed it very much. I had already studied with Paul several years ago and wanted some much needed revision for a forthcoming family holiday in Naples. It was very helpful and I now feel inspired to continue studying online in September when the new term starts. I found online worked very well as I was able to attend the classes from different locations

I had been trying to teach myself Italian and had made some progress but decided to look for a class to join to keep me on track and to have a tutor who could help me develop further. I found Dimmelo Italian classes on line and decided to try an online class instead. I must admit it has worked really well for me. I can come straight home from work, get ready and just log on to join. I feel part of the group just as much as I would in a college based class. I have found that Paul manages to keep everyone in the group really involved and engaged and you can tell that he keeps a note of people's individual strengths and learning needs. I feel I have benefited so much from having a tutor and doing regular classes. Paul is obviously a very experienced tutor and the exercises he sets and the teaching materials he uses are really varied which keeps things interesting and has really helped me to learn. Paul is a really friendly guy as well with a great sense of humour and his love of Italy and the Italian language clearly shines through. I have learnt so much in the past few months from attending the online classes, much more than I expected, and will definitely be continuing with these.
Thanks Paul and keep up the good work.

Following frequent visits to Italy, each time becoming increasingly embarrassed with my limited understanding of the beautiful language, I took the plunge and enrolled on a series of online, 1:1, sessions with Paul in September 2022. Although I had a basic level of understanding, I had little grammar knowledge and was very reluctant to speak in Italian. I quickly found that Paul’s approach really suited my way of learning, utilising a wide variety of teaching resources. He has encouraged me to read and engage in conversation in Italian throughout. He sets weekly homework and there is a clear sequence of progression.
Over the weeks my confidence has grown and I have received lots of compliments from my Italian friends. This confidence and knowledge helped me vastly when, in February, I was unfortunate to be involved in an accident whilst skiing. I was able to understand and converse with the police and medical staff at the hospital in Madonna di Campiglio, which made the whole experience less frightening.
I would highly recommend Paul and Dimmelo Online to anyone who is interested in learning Italian, to whatever level.

I started learning Italian to support me in my career where I have to correspond with my Italian colleagues on a daily basis and the lessons I had with Paul at Dimmelo Online have given me a good beginners’ foundation to enable me to progress with my job and studies
I enjoyed my studies learning Italian during the weekly online lessons with Paul. His lessons were useful and interesting along with the weekly homework. I can see the benefits of his lessons and the value of what I have learnt. My understanding of Italian both written and spoken has improved with him. Paul was patient with us and I would recommend Paul to anyone or company interested in learning Italian

Over the last year I have been attending my Italian classes online. At first I was quite resistant to the idea as I liked face to face learning however I have found it to be an enjoyable and flexible way to learn. Paul has used a range of interactive methods including video, audio and exercises which have all helped to make the sessions interesting. The virtual delivery has also meant that if I am working away I can still join the class which obviously wasn't possible before. Overall I think I would now prefer to learn in this way in the comfort of my own home! Deborah D July 23
Paul's on-line lessons for our group of five have worked well. As well as plenty of conversation, he has included videos and audio clips. His lessons have covered grammar along with practical situations you might need for an Italian holiday including travel, hotels and food and drink. As well as being very patient he also has a good sense of humour which always helps to make learning more enjoyable. Allan W. June 2022
I have been having Italian lessons with Paul since 2017 and we moved to online teaching during the pandemic in 2020. I have found the experience of learning online very satisfactory and great fun and I actually prefer it to in person teaching. Paul employs the full range of techniques from conversation to reading, dictation and listening / comprehension. We have access to Paul’s whiteboard when needing clarification for example on spelling or points of grammar. The class size is small so we all have a turn to be in the ‘spotlight’ but the lessons are never intimidating. There is also the advantage of saving on travel time and cost, and I can also join wherever I am so I do not have to miss lessons when away. I would highly recommend learning Italian with Paul online. Perchè non provarlo? Katie S. 2022
"I’ve really enjoyed learning Italian online with Paul this year. As a complete newcomer to the language, Paul has taken me from my tentative first words to conversing about all kinds of topics, with plenty of interesting anecdotes and insights into Italian culture along the way! Our lessons have been an engaging mix of activities, covering practical vocabulary, grammar and reading stories in Italian. Paul is very approachable; he makes sure everyone is involved and there are plenty of opportunities to ask questions. I’m impressed with how much we’ve covered in only a few months and I’m excited to learn more next year!" Lynda G. June 2022
The first year of Beginners’ Online Italian has been really enjoyable. We have covered a lot of ground and it’s surprising how much we have done in just a few months. As you would expect we have covered various topics of relevance to visiting Italy but it has been far more than just ‘holiday Italian’ with transactional language and phrases. We have already learnt a lot of basic grammar and some more advanced concepts as well, meaning we are learning how to use the language properly for ourselves. I’m very much looking forward to continuing in year 2.

Paul is a very enthusiastic Italian teacher. Using his initiative, he set me up to
join a group online so I could continue learning Italian. This is particularly useful for me during the current virus situation. Very enjoyable ! M. Mahon March 2021
During the summer 2019 I had some 1:1 private tuition with Paul. Paul makes learning fun but takes teaching seriously. He is well prepared and uses a range of materials and approaches. He is patient in explaining things and deals constructively with repeated mistakes. He provided me with a tailor made vocabulary list for hiking in Sicily. Very thoughtful. A good teacher. I started learning Italian last September with Paul’s evening class, and I have loved every minute of it. Whilst on holiday in Puglia, I have been able to talk a little in the shops and restaurants, and to understand information leaflets and posters.. We have learnt a lot this year, but in a fun and enjoyable way. Paul is very positive and encouraging, and explains things really well. I have also met some really lovely people. I have already signed up for next year!

Since the start of October last year my Tuesday evenings have become hugely anticipated events: la mia classe italiana. My friends now know not to call me on Wednesdays unless they want to listen endlessly to my outpourings on what cultural,
social, geographical or historical topics were discussed about Italy, what jokes were shared and what fun went on in Italian class the night before.
Paolo, il mio insegnante, uses among his key teaching tools humour, amiability and encouragement to bring out the best in us. It is a friendly group. I was welcomed immediately on joining by both teacher and class. I was put at ease. My anxieties melted away as I was quickly accepted and helped on the very first evening by classmates lending me catch-up notes from previous classes. Paolo used his experience to establish quickly the level most appropriate for my learning needs and the ways I learn most effectively. We follow a lively mix of reading, taking dictation, video and audio in the target language, translating, question and answer sessions, quizzes, pair and group chats and teacher-led grammar slots. All of this is leavened with humour, banter and fun beguiling away the two hours as if it were two minutes! My confidence in speaking, listening to, reading and writing Italian has burgeoned. I've found out interesting facts about Italy and its people and cuisine. I've met people who have become friends and I've had a thoroughly good time into the bargain.
